About Perimetry- A patient’s visual acuity can be impaired by ailments such as choroidal neovascular lesions or AMD. Perimetry is used to measure a patient’s sensitivity to differential light within their visual field, by displaying objects to the patient and measuring their response to them. Test objects – often just small spot of light – are projected onto a hemispherical surface. In standard static perimetry, objects of varying sizes and shapes remain fixed in position (hence static) across the visual field, but change in luminosity or size via computer control. These perimeters offer up to 80 degrees of measurement range across the hemisphere. The patients sensitivity threshold can be mapped as a traditional chart, a 3D or grayscale image, or a statistical profile.
Frequency Doubling Perimetry Technology or Frequency Doubling Technology (FDT) Perimetry is a procedure used to detect visual field loss caused by Glaucoma and other Ophthalmological diseases. An enhanced version of FDT Perimetry has been released called the Humphrey visual field test or the Humphrey Matrix. FDT Perimetry was designed to identify peripheral vision and sensitivity loss produced by various visual disorders, including Neuro-ophthalmological diseases like Thyroid Eye Disease, Ischemic Optic Neuropathy and Blepharospasm.

Zeiss Humphrey Matrix 715
The ZEISS 715 Humphrey Matrix Perimeter utilizes Welch Allyn Frequency Doubling Technology. It represents a significant breakthrough in visual field testing by combining early glaucoma detection capabilities, tools to characterize glaucoma and basic glaucoma management tools.
Like the Humphrey® FDT® Perimeter, the Matrix doubles as an in-office glaucoma screener with 35 second supra-threshold testing. And it provides up to 69 stimuli to characterize visual field defects to facilitate accurate diagnoses.

Haag Streit Octopus 600
Haag-Streit’s Octopus 600 covers all your essential perimetry needs in an easy-to-use device, including central field static testing, rapid screening, an easy-to-read analysis software, and the ability to network with integrated EyeSuite software. The Octopus 600 performs standard white-on-white threshold testing in just 2–4 minutes in the central visual field, and also offers the most commonly used static tests. Use the new Glaucoma Screening Test GST to distinguish between normal and abnormal visual fields in less than one minute.
Oculus Easyfield
The Oculus Easyfield is a compact perimeter to do static perimetry up to 30°. It has been designed for the combined use as a visual field screener and perimeter, offering features usually available only in large units. The Easyfield’s integrated bowl with a 11.81” (30 cm) radius and distance corrected lens is adapted to the Goldman standard and fulfills the ISO-norm 12866 for perimeters. The Easyfield has a fixed point grid with 135 test locations including 30-2.
